Firstly, on behalf of everyone associated with true faith I would like to give a big Black & White welcome to Newcastle United to Siem De Jong who it transpires has actually signed for the club in a real, proper transfer. We wish Siem a long, happy and successful career at Newcastle United and hope he and his family enjoy living in our city and become part of our community.
In football terms we hope Siem will be able to fill the rather large Yohan Cabaye shaped hole there is at our club and hit the ground running.
On a positive basis, its good that a player who will be key next season has been signed before the start of pre-season training.
We note the club has taken no time to publicise the signing. Its a shame the local press can’t welcome him to the club and ask him and the manager some questions supporters would like to be answered about player recruitment but well … hmm.
One of those questions would be – has Mathieu Debuchy signed for Arsenal as is being reported in some media outlets today?
Was the sale Debuchy sale required in order for De Jong to sign?
We await any response but hardly with baited breath given Newcastle United’s lamentable communications.
That is all.

Having watched a fair bit of Eredivisie over the last few years, I’m worried about the plan to replace Cabaye with de Jong.
Very different players, de Jong isn’t a deep sitting midfielder and certainly doesn’t have the range of passing of Cabaye. He also won’t put in the same level of shift as Cabaye, he plays much further up the pitch and won’t influence the game as much.
I suspect he will also be used (along with Gouffran) as a utility midfielder / striker. Ashley has basically tried to sign 2 players for the price of 1. Replacing Remy and Cabaye for 1 player.
I wonder who he will get in to replace Mathieu Debuchy and Moussa Sissoko ‘as they will be gone before the season starts’and I do not blame them’why play for a club with no ambition
“We are absolutely overjoyed to bring Siem to the Club because he will give us intelligence in the final third and create goalscoring situations, which we lacked towards the end of last season.
“It is a big signing for this Club. Siem brings massive experience from Ajax, I think our fans are going to enjoy the way he plays and I cannot wait to start working with him.
notice the phrase big signing’yawn
Yes a warm welcome to the right brother at last a player signs on proper terms but a small word of caution he has reportedly signed a six year contract yet in his interview he says he is looking forward to a good couple of years with Newcastle. Is mathematics different in Holland????
A Freudian slip! .He knows the NUFC model..
