The international break gives us all a bit holiday from the er, excitement of Newcastle newspapers1United but there are still a few news items out there.

Newcastle United

This type of story is going to be par for the course for a long while to come I imagine but seems to be light on substance. Andy Carroll back to United? Click here to read what Aaron Flanagan has cooked up in The Mirror.

Nice piece ere about the Pride of Sport awards, The Mirror is involved with and there is a smashing photo of Alan Shearer ahead of his time in the Scandinavian-hipster look with a ganzee that more than likely came from his granny than anything knocked out by Norse Projects. Click here.

You would think this piece by Jason Burt in The Telegraph might be the kick up the arse Ashley needs to bin the useless article we’ve got stinking out the club but well, he’s not a real football man and we aren’t a real football club any more. Click here on Moyes talking about coming back into football.

You will at least smile at this piss-take of Alan Pardew in The Guardian – click here.

General

This is a good piece focusing on what the FA must do to arest the slide of English football. Interesting. Click here to read Michael Calvin’s piece in The Independent.

Here we go again, the annual “we need a winter break” lament from managers. There is merit in the argument but it would be undermined by owners taking players to China to “grow the brand” (sic). Click here to read Jason Burt’s piece on how a potential winter break would screw the FA Cup even more. Apologies in advance for the bloody photo of bloody Hereford from 300 years ago.

Interesting piece about the potential rennaissance of Italian football in The Observer. Click here
