It was shocking to hear today’s news that our former goalkeeper and well-liked lad Pavel Srnicek has had a heart-attack whilst out running back home in Ostrava, in his native Czech Republic. Pavel is a young man and whilst there’s no good time of the year to have a heart-attack this week is particularly a bad one.

We understand Pavel is currently very ill and in hospital.

Obviously we all send our best wishes and hope he makes a full recovery.

Puts things into some sort of perspective doesn’t it?
I hope Pav pulls through – he seems like a truly genuine lad & in my opinion he’s the best keeper we’ve ever had.
    Come on Pav sonna!!

Met him by accident not long after he’d just signed for Jim Smith, had a quick chat in broken English and he was holding about ten bags from ‘Whatshop’ which he said were presents for his family. Very likeable and genuine lad. Let’s hope he can make it through.

Just to echo the sentiments regarding Pavel Srnicek. In an age of football where players don’t seem to care, here is a foreign player who always appeared to have a genuine love for Newcastle as a city and Newcastle United as a football club and always appreciated the fans. Can only wish Pav and his family best wishes from the whole of Tyneside. Pavel truely is a Geordie and we are all behind you, get well soon.
