We were all saddened and shocked to hear of the death of our former much loved goal-keeper Pavel Srnicek at the young age of 47.

Pavel was born and raised a long way from the city he came to regard as a second home but his warmth of character and PavelT-Shirtengaging personality always endeared him to supporters and its no over-statement to say he became one of us and had the ultimate accolade of Honourable Geordie bestowed upon him. Its impossible not to recall that lap of honour following that fantastic last game of the wonderful 1992/93 season when we’d destroyed Leicester City 7-1 at a sun-drenched St James’ Park and not smile as Pavel took the deserved applause dressed in a Pavel Is A Geordie t-shirt.

After consulting with the relevant people we have decided to bring out a replica of that t-shirt and 100% profit from that t-shirt will be donated equally to the Freeman Heart Unit in Newcastle, the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and a trust fund established for Pavel’s children.

true faith will put up the initial monies to have the t-shirts manufactured and we will co-ordinate all of the sales, shipping, and the re-ordering of stock etc. Like the Sir Bobby Robson charity t-shirt we have been doing, we will take absolutely no fee whatsoever  for what we do and regard it as our honour to hopefully pay tribute to Pavel and hopefully try and get something positive from a desperately sad situation.

The t-shirts will cost £15 plus postage and packaging. They are on sale now.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

We understand there is a book of condolence now open at St Andrew’s Church on Newgate Street in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

There will also be a memorial service for Pavel at St Andrew’s Church on Wednesday 13/Jan/2016 at 12 Noon

Anyone wishing to send cards of condolence should post them to:

Great tribute. Sitting smiling at the photo suddenly realised the chap with the flat cap and left arm raised is auld steve from stans coaches- anyone else remember/ notice? Very fitting that two departed legends are captured in happy times.
