There appears to have been a great reaction to the drive to encourage as many singers as possible into the Gallowgate Corner part of St James’ Park.
Our good friends at nufc.com publicised the campaign yesterday and it would appear there is a real momentum behind this now.
This isn’t anyone’s campaign in particular but it seems to be catching fire amongst those who wish to be a part of St James’ Park determined to give consistent vocal support to Rafa and the team. Having a part of St James’ Park which does this is a traditional part of our club’s support. Older Mags will recall the days of the old Leazes End, later the Gallowgate (where The Corner was a notable part of that culture of our club) with the Scoreboard and Corner having a healthy rivalry in kicking off the singing during the 1980s in particular. Later there were sections in the Milburn (Leazes Wing) and even the East Stand (Gallowgate wing) which could be relied on to get things going but since the move to all-seater stadium (bar a period of the Curva Nord on Leazes End Level 7) it is something we have lost.
Now we have the opportunity to reclaim that.
Old skool Mags, young radgies, Scarfers, Casuals and anyone in between. So long as you want to give your lungs a workout on matchday then The Corner and the area around it is the place for you.
We would encourage anyone who wants to be part of the Corner area to contact the Box Office to switch your current season ticket or buy a season ticket in that area.
It could not be easier to switch season tickets – just e-mail the Box Office – email@example.com with your details and they will do the rest.
Or you could telephone the Box Office on 0844 372 1892.
Or you could just pop into the Box Office and do it over the counter.
If you cannot get the tickets you want in The Corner section then we are encouraging supporters to apply for tickets as close as possible to that area with the spill-over in the Gallowgate End Lower tier towards the corner at the east side. It will be great to have a load of revved up singers around the corner flag area in that part of St James’ Park.
Obviously all of this applies to those who buy tickets on a match by match basis too.
VIVA LA RAFALUTION!
