Regular readers of these ramblings will be aware that via the book’s publishers we offered a prize for the rather splendid new book, Got, Not Got: Newcastle United: The Lost World of Newcastle United.
We asked you lot the name of the Newcastle United kit manufacturer who provided the kit for the club in the 1974 FA Cup Final (shudder) and which caused such controversy at the time.
The answer of course was BUKTA.
You can actually see BUKTA’s distinctive logo down the sleeves of the shirt on this here photo on the front of the book, though that strip looks later than the 1974 FA Cup Final kit as we still had the city crest on the shirt for that final (as we did for the 1950s FAC Finals too as you don’t need me to tell you).
The publisher will send the book directly to Graham.
Apologies that more of you couldn’t get a buckshee book but for what its worth, it is a rather beautiful book and has been laid out superbly with some brilliant photographs which will appeal to those of you who love your nostalgia.
I’m going to guess you can book in town at the city’s best book shop, The Backpage but for those who want to get it off yon internet, just click here.
You can tell the two writers Derek Hammond and Gary Silke have made this a labour of love. They’ve done a great job.
