We are well aware that loads of you are sentimental saps who love flicking through back copies of your fanzines, programmes and memorabilia. We know loads of you have copies of true faith in boxes under the bed and like us you can lose hours of your lives just flicking through old back copies and drinking in the nostalgia.
We also believe that since 1999 when we published our first hard copy issue of true faith (Wimbledon at home) that we have published some outstanding fanzine writing and it is that which has established us as one of the best independent supporters’-led magazines in the UK, not to forget the superb design we have introduced over those long seventeen years with Glenn Ashcroft at the wheel of everything we’ve done.
Since we’ve moved to a completely digital format our readership has exploded. Our fanzine is no longer the preserve of a fringe of our support. Our readership represents a huge swathe of the Newcastle United fan-base and it is growing with every issue we publish. Its no idle boast to describe true faith as the most widely read, independent, supporters’-led publication in the UK.
The digital format allows us to do a hell of a lot more and that means over the summer we are going to develop an online version of that box of back-copies under the bed. We are going to create an archive of every issue we have ever published and that means every hard-copy we ever had published being available for you from this website. The archive is also going to be absolutely and completely FREE.
It will be something of a monumental task but hopefully it will be all complete by the time the new season starts.
Before we get to that however, we’ll have the true faith (TF 126), SUMMER SPECIAL available for you which we’ll be working on over the next few weeks and aiming to have for you in June. That issue will be the most widely read fanzine, Newcastle United supporters will have ever published.
