On behalf of everyone at true faith may I welcome Aleksandar Mitrovic to Newcastle United and wish him a long and successful career with the club. Naturally we also hope he settles into the city and develops a strong association with the community that supports his new club.
I won’t claim I’ve seen Mitrovic play but having done a little research around the lad it would seem he has the attributes and potential to do a really great job at United and like many other supporters I’m looking forward to seeing him play and fulfil his talent with our club.
Again, it is only right to recognise the achievement of those at the club who have completed this deal. Well done.
For what it’s worth I believe we are only one other striker away from having the best striking options we’ve had at United (on paper at least) for a good few years.
Whether Mitrovic represents an alternative to Charlie Austin or who is a player identified to play alongside the current QPR striker only a select few at United will know. Personally speaking I’d love to see a striking resource of Mitrovic, De Jong, Austin and Ayoze and with Sissoko, Aarons and Wijnaldum with the potential to break from midfield and down the flanks theoretically at least the squad appears to have some promise and McClaren has some options going into the new season.
Having completed the signings of Mitrovic and Wijnaldum United have begun to show some mettle in the transfer market and it is to be hoped the club is able to attract another striker as well as the two central defenders that are much needed.
What has been achieved appears encouraging but there remains lots to be done before anyone can seriously begin to suggest a corner has been turned at Newcastle United.
That is all.
