About Us
true faith is an independent fanzine and website produced by Newcastle United supporters for Newcastle United supporters.
Our aim is to provide an alternative view of what happens at NUFC and its one without personal ambition, self-serving agendas or any other interest outside of our club progressing in a way which does not alienate its support or the NE communities which sustain it and without which it is nothing.
true faith exists to act as a platform for the views of Newcastle United supporters which are honestly held.
The editorial policy of true faith is to edit rather than censor though we will not publish material wihich is libellous, motivated by personal spite or which is hate-filled (e.g. racist etc).
The people who run true faith are ordinary supporters - we make no claim to be representatives of Newcastle United supporters as we have absolutely no mandate to do so. The team putting the fanzine and website together are run of the mill punters - we make no claims of being super-fans or any of that rubbish but like the average Newcastle United supporter, the club means a lot to us as does our pride in Newcastle, the city, Tyneside and the North East region. We'd like to think we're patriotic Geordies.
What we do stand for is - progression for Newcastle United Football Club, the fair treatment of supporters on ticket pricing and in all areas associated with following the club, the recognition that Newcastle United is a major institution in the NE and as such has certain social responsibilities which it should recognise and discharge. Newcastle United is the flagship of local pride - the cap badge of our Geordie identity. Our dream position is for Newcastle United to be owned lock stock and barrel by the supporters in the manner of Barcelona, Real Madrid and a host of German clubs though that looks like a pipedream these days.
We do believe in Newcastle United being the club for everyone in the North East - men, women, black, white, brown and any other shade, culture, religion, able-bodied, disabled, children, young, old and we couldn't give a toss about what people do behind their own bedroom doors so long as we're not involved and they switch the lights off. And put the cat out.
That's it really. true faith is mainly though not exclusively about NUFC - we'll cover bits of music, non-league and international football and on occassion we'll be completely self indulgent. Putting true faith out started off as being a fun thing to do and we'd like to keep it that way though sometimes reading through the little buggers it doesn't seem much of a laugh a lot of the time.
Its our intention to put out a fanzine and website which is honest, looks good, is interesting and which is respected. We'll get it wrong a lot of the time because we're unashamed amateurs but our intentions are absolutely honest.
One of the best things about running true faith is the kind words we get from readers but if you think we are getting something completely wrong then we'd rather you told us rather than go in a huff. All complaints to editor@true-faith.co.uk
We are also keen for more people to join us and add to to what we're doing online and in the fanzine be that as writers, with photographs, ideas and anything else you think will add to the value of something we'd like to think was owned by supporters.
We're not really arsed about being the biggest fanzine or website or any of that stuff - we'd just like to provide our fellow supporters with something some of them might value. And we'd like to pay the printers bill and cover other costs we've got associated with running true faith.
If you think you've got a contribution to make just drop us a line at editor@true-faith.co.uk.
Thanks for sparing your time to read this old toffee - we're enormously flattered.
Keep On, Keepin' On ...
