Your Letters

OK, I do appreciate this; that we arnt owned by someone who is skint, by someone who is unable to the bills. Seeing clubs like Portsmouth, even if they are on a different playing field in terms of potential revenue etc, get a winding up order makes me think about how I'd feel if it was us, and what nightmare it would be. I'd like to think thats simply commen sense - obviously every fan thinks this, its kind of self explanitary(!). Just like I appreciate I didnt get struck by lighting the last time there was a thunderstorm.

So knowing that, Llambias' comments are (again) comments of a man who simply holds contempt for the fans who dared show disapproval of the club being shafted, and they also show his patronising and petty attitude.

"You can't lose the income we have lost in relegation and still be where we are, so Mike's put in £25million in December. He has put in another £5milllion this week, so he is committed."

MIKE got us relegated, so to talk about MIKE putting money in to cover the cost of HIS disgraceful mistakes in this context is just plain offensive. Committed to what? Ensuring his investment dosent go tits up even more? Its pathetic. He's basically saying "you should be chuffed to bits that Mike is only disgrace, and not an absolute, sick disgrace by also refusing to pay the bills." To me, its not the comments of someone genuine. After the shocking decisions they've made, comments like these are from someone who himself is delusional about what has transpired over the last year and a half.

"He went out and bought £5.5million worth of players in January we needed to freshen up the team. We needed to support our manager and we are fully committed to where we are.

Fair enough, I will say this - he did back Hughton well in January. It is obviously much easier when the budget it limited to 5m, and when the transfer targets will jump at the chance of coming here - but yes, it was good stuff. Again though, letting your manager spend 5m in January dosent show he's committed to the club. Get a proper football MD (not your mate) to run the club, give the odd genuine interview about your simple thoughts and intentions, and then carry out those intentions, give Chris Hughton what he needs to potentially survive in the PL, and after a few years of this, and progress, then my skepticism may begin to fade.

"It is a passion. They are just great fans, it's an absolute passion . There is a very small section of the fanbase that are basically not reasonable, there's no reality to where they are. I am hoping that we get there and we'll see what happens next season.

Again, that comment is simply petty and unproffesional, with a stubborn refusal to acknowledge how much they have shafted the club, and what pain they have caused, in football terms. The fans, with obvious good reason, are skeptical about his plans, and do not forgive what they have done, while at the same time superbly averaging crowds of 42,000! Again, he should be thanking the fans for not turining their backs on the club, for the help they have given financially, aswell as the support for the team - but instead he is more focused on what 3,000 (understandably) chant at his mate (while supporting the team), which once again comes back showing he has no understanding of the scale of which they have betrayed the fans (and certain Legends of the club).

“Slowly. I think the reality's coming into football has set in with teams like West Ham and Portsmouth and are other lower division clubs out there. The reality is if Mike hadn’t taken the club we would be in a mess.

Status of club nearly 3 years after Mike took over: Even more debt, and a Championship club. With SJP having an email address for a new name. The point is, history re-writing comments like these should be derided, and not accepted. He should be slamed, again, for stuff like this.

I plead to any fan not to swallow this rubbish, and not to accept it. I'm guessing he's hoping patronising comments like these will hammer fans into reluctant submision. As many have pointed out, they've started the ST renewals and suddenly cant shut up about how great they are!

Also, shame on bbc newcastle for bowing down to Llambias, and refusing to ask wortwhile questions. It really does stink.
