Your Letters

Dear tf,
Ha ha had to laugh at this Journalistic excellence from Mark Douglas at the Journal, sticking it to the village down the road over poor transfer dealings even ones they had nothing to do with!

“Steve Bruce and Niall Quinn had always maintained that in the wake of the substantial and impressive summer recruitment drive there would be little business conducted in January, and that ultimately proved accurate. Deals for Maynor Figueroa, Guy Demel, Ahmed al-Muhammadi and Habib Beye all fell by the wayside, while Adam Johnson was swayed by the Abu Dhabi oil dollars on offer at Manchester City.”

Dear tf,

To A Foster (2nd Feb),

I agree in whole with most of your article until the last paragraph.
Us Gutierrez knockers are, I think you'll find, correct. The person that we missed with guile and attacking intent on the left was Enrique. Gutierrez (apart from slightly improving in the last month), does not create, score, worry people or show any 'cutting edge' and is extremely predictable. He is quite simply NOT the difference between promotion and relegation.
Yes, he's better than Pancrate, certainly not better than Guthrie or Lovenkrands (unless they are stuck out of position).
The sad state of affairs that our owner has left us in means he is our only left winger, right footed at that. The fact that he runs around like a headless chicken and not threatening defenders or scoring goals does not make him 'the difference'. He's not frustrating, he's just not up to the job.

My personal opinion is that some people confuse a bit of pace as being a good player as the rest of our midfield is so pedestrian.

Cheers

Mark Wallace
