I have just read the above article and whilst not convinced how great the play was against Barnsley, the comments re. Ashley and the toads of the national press are spot on.
Ashley is merely trying to protect is asset / product/ brand. The fact that it is NUFC is incidental. As soon as an entity meets his price the club is sold.
The national press are predictably lazy. I still have not forgotten Matthew Syed and Simon Barnes of The Times taking great delight in our plight post Villa Park.
Barnes even queried how many NUFC supporters would be travelling to the fixture with his local team Ipswich Town this season!
If there is a God, sometimes he is very good.
The arrogance of Ashley and his minions is difficult to take, hence this rant.

Rod Liddle is not a reporter. George Caulkin is a reporter, David Conn is a reporter. Even Neil Farrington is a reporter. Rod Liddle is (allegedly) a wife-beating, blowhard, knob-jockey who allegedly deserted his first wife mid-honeymoon (citing pressure of work) to fly home and service his bit on the side (whom he later admitted to assaulting when she was pregnant and accepted a police caution). I’m currently reading some of the biggest bollocks I’ve read in 40 years of following the Mags.
Sadly it all comes from the face of Newcastle, Derek Lyingarse. To suggest we forgive and forget what that FCB has done to our club and to suggest that without the benevolence of the same FCB we would be another Portsmouth boils my piss.
While not for one minute saying the Hall/Shepherd eras were putting us on anything other than the slippery slope to financial ruin the FCB could have bought the club, made prudent financial changes (like sacking that cunt Owen and using Viduka for crackling) without leading us to the WTCTSDTD.
Everton to name but one club have employed a sensible manager who buys players cleverly sells half useless players to Man City for a Kings ransom and balances the books with a loyal home crowd considerably less than ours,
So let us evaluate our situation a prudent manager (rules out KK really who has always spent big money in producing his teams) sensible buys (Gonzales, Xisco, Geremi etc all under the FCB’s watch), selling of a top class keeper for…..less than a Kings ransom employing a sensible manager – step back JFK– so what do we end up with? - relegation so a fire sale of all the top earners (probably justifiable) but an avoidable relegation had the FCB and lyingarse even gone into the Strawberry and asked what they should do instead of employing that maggoty shitbag.
Employing a nice but (relatiively) dim coach rather than a Manager has so far worked in a piss poor division (IMHO with a proper Manager we’d be up by now) Backing the same coach with around 5 million in January ( 9 -10 months of Owens wages? Correct me if my maths are wrong) to bring in such players as Leon Best and Fitz Hall (loan I Know but haway) jeez I almost wished for Marlon Harewood make me wary of Hughtons ambitions. He is doing a fine job as a coach of a bunch of players so much better than their counterparts in a moderate division but I really fear for him and therefore Us in the Sky League. The FCB and Lyingarse have made it abundantly clear (perhaps their only truth) that there isn’t going to be wads of cash available in the Summer so we are going to be buying journeymen a la Hull, Stoke etc in the hope rather than expectation we stay up. Well the boys upstairs need to sit up and ask themselves how these clubs have stayed up – hate him as I do Orange Phil has the ability to get players to play above themselves (because their squad is awful) as does Pulis and Avram Grant (although it won’t save Pompey) and Moyes. Does Hughton?
My rant is over – we will go up and we may stay up but the only winner is the FCB who will trouser his wad for use in one of Lyingarses casinos.
Never seen a Spurs fan with such a thick skin!

After having had the pleasure of reading the latest diktat from our reclusive cabal of, erm, "leaders" (stop laughing at the back), proven liars lest we forget, it becomes more and more clear why they choose to regal us with 'information' about as often as we see Halley's comet.
