TOON striker Andy Carroll has been charged over an alleged bust-up in a Tyneside nightclub.

The striker from Gateshead has been charged with assault after a clash in Newcastle’s Blu Bambu club.

It is alleged he attacked amateur footballer Michael Cook, who was taken to the city’s General Hospital for treatment to head injuries.

Carroll, 21, answered bail at Newcastle’s Market Street police station last week and was asked to re-attend today.

And after speaking with detectives this morning, he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
