On the Level – Cardiff City

Friday, February 5, 2010, WTCTSDTD

Cardiff arrived with something of a reputation of having one of the worst (or best depending on how you look at it) reputations for hooliganism. Personally, I never saw any bother. I’ve no doubt they’ve got their heed the ball element, but then so have we. Walking out on Friday night there were a few of our excitable element trying to goad their lot. There rumours of one of our pubs getting trashed but that’s all they are. Rumours.
For the most part they were pretty good, given they were 3-0 after less than 15 minutes you have to raise your glass to them for that. Those on the front row of the Level 7 balcony seemed to be adamant that it was only 2-0 given the hand gestures we were getting from them. There was also a couple of pissed up Taffs offering lads below them out for a bit of a fight. Easy to be a Billy Big Bollocks when you’re 50 feet from someone and surrounded by 2,000 of your pals!

As good as Cardiff’s fans were (vocally might I add) they were trounced in the most part by our boys and girls. Kudos to the Level 7 Corner for being on top form all night, and even introduced a couple of new songs. One in particular was something of a war cry. Superb stuff. They even seemed to refrain from the “You’re support is…” ditty which has grinded on many, particularly after the Palace game.

Good numbers and decent noise all things considered.
