It says something of the kindness and generosity of Newcastle United’s support that after only six matches of donations over 12 tonnes of food has been donated to the NUFC Fans Foodbank as well as almost £10,000. All of that food and money has been put to great work by supporting some of the most vulnerable and desperate people here on Tyneside.
All of the work is coordinated by the Newcastle West End Foodbank which works in partnership with all of the other Food-banks across the city and Tyneside to ensure the maximum benefit is made from the donations we’ve made.
The next stage now is to support the permanent donation point in the famous Grainger Market in Newcastle City Centre and which has been titled – shop and drop. Its to be hoped that over the close season supporters and locals will continue to make donations to the NUFC Fans Foodbank because the need is still there even when The Toon isn’t playing.
That unit opens on Friday 28/Apr/17 and everyone is welcome. Just don’t go empty handed.
