As all of you are aware there is no Newcastle United this weekend so for those of you who fancy getting out of the house and need a suggestion where to get to dip a toe into the North East’s superb non-league scene, look no further.
If there is a better place to go and watch a game of non-league football than Croft Park in the redoubtable town of Blyth in the county of Northumberland then I am yet to go there.
Croft park has everything. Its nestled in a real old school football neighbourhood, it has pubs nearby and of course the necessary chippy. As you will doubtless know, The Spartans play in a fantastic Green and White striped number, black shorts and green socks. The boys look the business.
In their manager, Tom Wade they have a proper Geordie lad who is doing a decent job with this famous non-league club.
Get yourself along this Saturday, not much on the gate, a good club house and a great group of supporters.
What’s not to like?
