We are happy to confirm that NUST are continuing their support for the Newcastle United Women’s Football Club.
The Trust has sponsored Kate Brooks for the new season, Kate is a massive Newcastle United fan and is living the dream, playing at either centre-back or in the heart of midfield for our women’s team.
Their team’s existence is a million miles away from the riches of the men’s Premier League. The United women’s team relies on the dedication of their players, coaches and volunteer committee/helpers, as well as a large number of individuals and organisations who provide financial help.
Thanks to Stuart Dick for sorting out the player sponsorship on our behalf and here are a few questions Stuart posed to Kate on our behalf;
Name: Kate Brooks
Position: Centre Back/Centre Mid
How long have you played for Newcastle United WFC?
“I have played for Newcastle United WFC since I was 12 years old coming through from the Newcastle United Centre of Excellence.”
How did you first get involved with Newcastle United WFC?
“I played for Killingworth Girls for a short period and my manager at the time entered me into the local trials for the Newcastle United Centre of Excellence for girls and I was lucky enough to have been selected.”
How much does the sponsorship help the club and the players at Newcastle United WFC?
“It really means a lot to everyone at the club. This helps us to be able to play football especially with travelling long distances to games and training facilities.”
Where would the club be without the support of player sponsors?
“We certainly would struggle massively. Without the support of our sponsors we would not be able to function properly as a club.”
How has the season gone so far?
“It has gone well so far, especially for the Development side, undefeated so far and currently top of the league, which is brilliant. The first team have had a mixture of results but have collected some important points which we need and everyone has identified and took in the improvements needed to push on to have a successful season where we look to dominate games and obtain as many points as possible.”
What are the aims for the club this season and beyond?
“We aim to have a successful season, build as a team and push the club forward as far as we can and hopefully one day we can enter the Women’s Super League.
“Lastly, I would like to thank the Newcastle United Supporters Trust for agreeing to sponsor me for the 2014/15 season, without their sponsorship and support I may have struggled to find the money to play this season.”
