We are proud to announce that last week saw the second JUSTNewcastle free Soccer School, with many more to follow being the intention.
Last year JUSTNewcastle funded 30 children from Canning Street School in Benwell, based in Newcastle’s West End to have a free 4 day Soccer School. This year it was the turn of children based at Dunston Hill primary school.
Unfortunately, not every child has the opportunity of getting quality coaching whilst at the same time having a whole lot of fun.
The children from Dunston Hill though enjoyed both, the coaching coming thanks to our partners Newcastle Community Football, with funding via JUSTNewcastle, taking away the financial barrier that may have otherwise stopped these children enjoying what so many others take for granted. The medium and long-term aim is to see JUSTNewcastle’s, finance permitting, fund as many of these Soccer Schools as we possibly can in disadvantaged areas of Tyneside, allowing many other children to enjoy the treat that was served up for the children of Canning Street and Dunston Hill.
A great time was had by all, with the kids showing the passion as well as a willingness to learn, all the ingredients for a very successful week. We were also lucky to be able to call upon our great friend, John Anderson, representing our partners Show Racism the Red Card. John presenting the trophies on the final afternoon, as well as every participating child receiving a JUSTNewcastle junior pack, bringing the total number of children to 700 who have received one of the junior packs.
