In just six matches Newcastle United supporters have donated over 12 tonnes of food at the Foodbank collection point atthe rear of the Gallowgate End on Strawberry Place opposite NINE Bar. More than £5000 has also been donated by way of cash gifts from supporters as well.

All of that food and cash has been used to provide food parcels for some of the most distressed and vulnerable people in our communities who are in crisis.

The food and donations goes immediately to the Newcastle West End Foodbank (the largest in the UK) who work with partner Food-banks across Tyneside to use the food to the best possible impact.

There will be a further Food-bank collection point established as above for the Preston North End game this Monday night. The collection point will be ready to take donations from 5pm.

Whilst all donations are useful, the Foodbank have advised the following items will be especially welcome:

Juice (squash or long-life),

Pasta Sauces,

Tea & Coffee,

Rice (dried),

Tinned Tomatoes.

The Food-bank is establishing a more permanent collection point in the Newcastle Grainger Market from next Friday 28/Apr/17 and we’ll have more news about that soon.

Thanks to everyone who has supported this project.
