Everton - Barclays Premiership

Location – SJP   Kick Off – 16.00pm   Date – Sunday 24th September 2006
Tickets - On General Sale   Referee - Steve Bennett
Coverage
– SkySports 2, BBC Radio Newcastle 95.4FM & BBC 5Live 909 & 693AM

Our third game in eight days sees David Moyles bring his Toffee Men to Tyneside with a view of the top of the Premiership in their sights if other results go their way. Sky TV for the first time this season feel the need to grace SJP with there presence knowing that inevitably there will be goals in this game due to Moyles running out of defending options and Roeder pulling his hair out trying to find a good combination of central defenders. Everton are one of only three teams left in the Premiership not to lose a game this season and they are currently high on confidence. Their good start to the season has a lot to do with the arrivals of Andy Johnson, Joleon Lescott & Tim Howard which has added a proven Premiership goal scorer arrive in cracking form, an international goal keeper and also a young defender more than prove his £5m worth. The departures have included Ferguson who was released and much more of a loss was there veteran goal keeper Nigel Martyn retiring due to injury. With another important home game in the league due to draw another full house at SJP, Roeder has to be thinking that he can’t afford to end with a similar result as Fulham. I feel Everton are a much better side than Fulham so are we going to see the team that turned out against West Ham or Fulham? As always we can expect Scotty Parker to show belief, passion and desire it is his and Roeder’s job to instill in the others belief and passion and the desire to win.

Other News – With Given and Owen both leaving hospital this week each on the own road to recovery and Kieron’s recent appearance back on the training ground there is always reasons to be positive. I am also of the mind we must show a united front to get behind Steve Harper and build his confidence because I am pretty sure every man and his dog will be shooting on sight. The only surprising thing this week was why Terry Mc didn’t managed to floor Bellamy after Wednesdays game…
