In the first instalment of this probably irregular series we go back
to Monday’s Daily Mail. The paper that has probably excelled itself
the most in scurrilous inaccuracy and general mischief this season!
Have a read and see what you think, but here’s a few thoughts of
mine to ponder on.
We’re labelled a “debt ridden underachieving club”. An interesting
dig this one. Under achieving I think we can agree on. But debt
ridden Never mind that Ashley has personally cleared over £50million
of debt with his own cash. Yes there is debt (but surely there is
that at EVERY Premiership club) but is it fair to scaremonger or
label us “debt ridden”? I think not.
Wise gets got at when he attends games for being a stalking horse
awaiting Keegan’s “inevitable failure” and gets got at when he
doesn’t attend games. He really can’t win can he? Bear in mind one
of the reasons he doesn’t attend many NUFC games is that his role
involves going looking at other players elsewhere and he can’t be in
2 places at once. His role is also part time and that was well
documented when he was appointed. This is all old hat now,
especially as this is the newspaper that ran the allegedly humorous
“Dennis Wise Diaries” – think of something else to say!
But they can’t and so we have to point out to them once again that
Wise is in charge of scouting and recruitment of YOUNG players and
works WITH Keegan on HIS objectives, scouting and recruitment for
the first team. Nothing first team will happen without Keegan’s say
so and I bet he is well aware of anything below that as well.
This old recycled diatribe is best used as tomorrow’s chip paper.
