What
are your views on the current squads at NUFC and Liverpool? Any
particular areas you think each team is particularly strong / weak?
For you, it seems your midfield is strong and well balanced, but the
other areas seem to be very short. Whether Martins fills the number
9 shirt will be a massive bearing on your season but just as much
will be how the defence holds out. In Given you have a class keeper.
For us, very happy with what Benitez is building and think he knows
the areas we need to strengthen in. Obviously our strength is
midfield with the abundance of talent in Sissoko, Alonso, Gerrard,
Garcia, Kewell, Gonzales. Its just getting some sort of settled line
up going we need.
Any NUFC players you would like to see at Liverpool (don't
laugh!!)?
Parker and Given are the only ones id see good enough for our squad,
and maybe Steven Taylor in the future, he looks promising and we
were reported to be monitoring him last season.
How do you think both clubs fared in the transfer window?
Happy with how we did and who Rafa brought in, got the right people
in the right positions.
I was baffled by your signings, or rather the lack of them,
particularly a centre back! Woodgate would have been a good addition
but that didn't happen. And surely you needed another forward?
What are your expectations for Liverpool this season? And what
should NUFC fans see as success?
Expectations for Liverpool is a good title challenge, not expecting
to win it but hopeful we can make a push and at least give Chelsea a
run for their money, I expect us to finish well and inside the top
3.
I have to say, id be impressed if you finished in the top half and
would see that as succesful - surely a good cup run too eh?
How
do LFC fans view the Newcastle support at home / away games?
Your support is always good and some original songs rather than the
same old same old from many opposing fans.
Memories of games between the two sides over the years?
No points for guessing the answer here then! Those two nights will
live long in the memories of us all im sure - particularly the first
'thriller'. Theres been plenty of entertaining matches and a
personal favourtite of mine would be the Owen hat trick in Gullit's
first game in charge at St. James'.
As an outsider, how do you view NUFC as a club?
Rather like they want to be Real Madrid, but obviously cannot be!
The way Shepherd seemingly links you with any top name but rarely
delivers! The Rooney bid was incredible, even more so when the clear
lack of defenders should have been on the agenda not a forward! I
see Newcastle as a good club with plenty of potential - but
potential I doubt they will ever properly fulfil.
During the Merseyside derby last week, we saw lots of rival fans
sitting next to each other, something we could never imagine doing
with Sunderland. Is it really as friendly as all that?
It's mostly due to splt families on Merseyside, so you get
sons/dads/ friends etc sitting together at the derby matches. The
rivalry is still massive and although a lot of outsiders see it as a
'friendly' derby - it really isn't and the feelings between fans
seem to be getting more negative each season. The Blues doing well
always seems to get them carried away with crazy thoughts that they
could be decent again, when in all truth they know they can't touch
us. People's Club my arse.
Which LFC players should we be keeping an eye on next Wednesday?
All
of 'em, cos we're gonna take out our poor start on you poor boys!
Seriously though, depends on the line-up, im hoping Gonzales will
start down the left.
Prediction for wednesday?
3-0. Kuyt and Bellamy to get off the mark together. Sorry!
