Highlights of recent issues:
Issue 27 - Dig the new Breed

As well as Factory Records, the Ed has a bit of a fascination with Paul Weller (Not rhyming slang for Belgium’s best export since Phillipe Albert either). Hence Jermaine Jenas is captioned Dig the New Breed on this front page, in recognition of the top performances the young lad was putting in. The issue came out for the 2-1 win over Chelsea in early March and was full of tributes for Sir Bobby’s 70th birthday, unrestrained glee at our new cadaverous centre half (currently on a year’s paid leave in Madrid) and the odd account of Leverkusen away. Quality stuff.
Issue 26 - Anger is an Energy

John Lydon’s PIL mantra Anger is an Energy was the appropriate commentary on cover star Craig Bellamy for an issue that came out in late December, on a day when we beat Spurs 2-1. The win at Feyenoord is written large in NUFC folklore and the accounts in here of that night are fine reading, as are the accounts of one or two nights in Barcelona.  Billy Furious’ exemplary book A Mag For All Seasons is given the thumbs up, as is Sarge Wilko for his early effects on the Mackems.

Issue 25 - Shine On!

Sir Bobby and Guy Chadwick appear, superficially, to have little in common. That said, the House of Love’s second finest moment is name checked in bright orange letters; Shine on! The Category One’s from down the A19 were our visitors the night we came out. A thoroughly entertaining 2-0 win on a Monday night would have been topped off by some superb reading for the Metro home; Dawn Trotter’s piece on being a woman who has followed football since long before 1992 was worth the £1.50 itself. On a slightly more testosterone fuelled trip, Paul Gibson gave us the entertaining rundown on being a Chap in the early 80s.
