Back issues are available from The Back Page, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Highlights of recent issues:
Issue 3 - Get your Motor Runnin'

Gary Speed was the cover star, with an insert for the Save Our Seats campaign (from whence came valued writer Colin Whittle) and a full page Show Racism The Red Card showed that true faith intended to occupy territory a million miles from other club’s publications that continued to churn through bland adverts asking bored players whether they preferred John Smith’s or Bud. A commitment to the wider life of Newcastle United was shown by a selection of Reserve and Junior match reports. Frankly, punters purchasing a copy of the fanzine on the day it came out would have been better advised on reading it than watching the dull draw with Everton that took place that day.
Issue 2 - Back in the Old Routine

Out for the 2-1 bea(s)ting of The Beasts in early October with Robert Lee on the cover, it boasted such regular features as Faith of our Fathers and Thru Black and White Eyes. Robson’s arrival was welcomed throughout (not surprising as we’d just twatted Sheff Wed 8-0) and articles criticising The Halls & Shepherd (away ticket allocations being a cause of real anguish back then) rubbed shoulders with a feature on NUFC sites on t’internet. Half a decade ago now seems half a life time ago, in terms of technological advances in football websites; for example, nufc.com merits only a couple of lines.
Issue 1 - Come Together

Coming out the day we drew 3-3 with Wimbledon to provide Gullit with his only point of that last disastrous leg of his leadership, the cover boasted a pensive Lion of Gosforth and a strap line of Come Together. Thankfully the other option of a certain Dutchman with "Ruudy Can’t Fail" was nixed at the last minute. The only edition not be strict A5 size, it boasted 32 pages of unease at summer signings and early season stutters, mixed in with a dollop of local historical pride. It could never last could it?
