Highlights of recent issues:
Issue 9 - Only available in Black and White

August 2000 and a new season is on us; this time it’s Bobby first full one in charge and we’ve got a 52,000 capacity stadium to fill. Things started off typically enough with a loss at old Trafford and a win at home to Derby before this issue came out (featuring The Lion of Gosforth as cover star for the 3rd time) to coincide with a home game against Spurs, which we won 2-0 without breaking sweat. Ferguson’s departure and Cort’s arrival were noted. Magazine wise, the front cover always carried the slogan the best value fanzine in the world. Colin Whittle’s regular musings were now collected under the title Northern Uproar, while forerunners of Perfect 10s were on every other page.
Issue 8 - Unbowed

The last issue of the 1999/2000 season came out for the 2-0 home win over Coventry. Those of you with better memories than sex lives will no doubt recall that this game marked the zenith of Diego Gavilan’s career on Tyneside. The Paraguayan Sparrow Hawk notched the second in the dying minutes and failed to achieve anything ever again in a black and white shirt. Elsewhere, the Chelsea semi defeat knocked the stuffing out of us and we’d lost three on the bounce before this game. To cheer us up, true faith presented us with an edition dedicated to the memory of The Leazes End. Top quality nostalgia.
Issue 7 - Hi-Energy

What a top quality winter and spring 1999/2000 proved to be. Despite coming out for the limp 1-0 home defeat to the “West London hairdressers,” issue #7 was chock full of optimism engendered by reaching our 3rd successive cup semi final and the battering we’d given Man Utd when Ferguson scored THAT goal and Keane saw the red mist for the first time on Tyneside. Showing just how far we’d come under Bobby, there’s a clear tinge of disappointment in all the articles about the 2-2 on our first visit to SoS and utter disgust at the racist chants aimed at our scorers Helder and Domi. Mackems? They’re scum you know.
