Issue 18 - A mag much longer? |
|
 |
Another edition with old Centre Partin’ getting the gig as front
man. Typical pose too; look of intense concentration and the
opposition nowhere near him. The previous issue’s optimism was
replaced with irritation at back to back home defeats to Spurs and
Liverpool, with Robson trying out the hideous 3-5-2 on both
occasions. Typically from us, the wins at Bolton and Everton are
downplayed (7-1 aggregate victories!). Irritation is expressed about
Robert Lee’s contract wrangles and subsequent transfer request, two
months after his testimonial. Also this month was a stylish full
colour poster of Sir Robert in the centre pages. |

Issue 17 - Mag-nifique! |
|
 |
A
tricouleured Francophile celebration of Monsieur Robert’s
thunderous free kick in the 4-3 over the Mancs showed exactly how we
were going more for the all style and no substance market….. or
something. A quotation from Abraham Lincoln was true faith’s
tribute to those who died on September 11th. This issue
came out for a rearranged 1-0 win over Leicester where Nobby’s goal
was the only thing to keep us awake as an autumnal chill set in. The
magazine was as understated as this game; the general consensus was
that we weren’t doing badly, but received wisdom had it that the
Inter Toto campaign would see us tiring badly. Thank
goodness we were wrong. |

Issue 16 - Get Ready |
|
 |
Now
this one really was a vintage season and I think it’s only now we’re
appreciating how good it was. Of course, your typical edition of
true faith doesn’t go in for any of this upbeat malarkey. We
came out for the 1-1 with the Mackems in late August furrowing our
brow about why we’d signed Bellamy, who was this Robert and why
hadn’t we got Lee Clark back. Admittedly there was some low-key
jollity over the Inter Toto malarkey. Another long-running article Rumours, Half-Truths & Lies saw the light of day and is still
going strong; thanks entirely to the stupidity of the Great Unwashed
it has to be said. |
