Issue 21 - Sweet Inspiration |
|
 |
Nobby gets
his mug on the cover, in recognition for the superb job he was doing
in providing the bullets for King Al. We’d just had a bit of a
lesson from the Arse and Liverpool in the league, but had drawn our
6th round home tie with the Gunners, so optimism still hung in the
air. Sadly, the league just about went the day we came out on 16th
March, when The Lion dragged an injury time penalty agonisingly wide
to drop 2 points at home to the Tractor Boys. Never mind, the
quality of writing in the magazine was as top notch as ever. More
Aaron Hughes flirting lay side-by-side with accounts of the day Nikos Dabizas scored his most important goal for us, both from in
our end and in theirs. Oh happy day! |

Issue 20 - Same old Shearer |
|
 |
It’s all
coming along quite canny at SJP. Despite losing at Man Utd, we
bounce back to beat Leeds, Spurs, Bolton and Southampton, as well as
coming through cup games against Palace and Peterborough, all down
in no small part to the Lion of Gosforth, whose back adorns the
front, if you know what I mean. Issue #20 coincided with our
welcoming back of Keegan for the first time, as he brought the
Massive Club citeh to Tyneside for the first of four consecutive
defeats. A week before our trip to Queerside and the e-versions of
Save Chimp; Don’t Let The Mackems Win are being advertised. They
didn’t like this one either. |

Issue 19 - Everybody's Number One |

Boxing Day
2001 and an absolute humiliation for the Beasts as we cruise to a
3-0 win. A young French lad by the name of Bernard grabs his second
in two games. We come in to this game as top of the pile, following
the astonishing wins at Leeds and Arsenal, with wins over Ipswich
and Blackburn before that. Only trouble is, we’d gone to print early
because of Xmas deadlines and spend a lot of time seething over
Shearer’s rescinded Red Card at Charlton. Letting you in to a
secret, neither me nor the end were at that game; we were at Dunston
Fed v Seaham, which inspired a 4 page article by yours truly bigging
up the Northern League. Best thing though was the legendary morphed
photo of the Fulwell End (is always full), entitled Village of the
Damned. Got right under their skin that did. |
