Boxing Day is for Football!

Naturally we wish all of our readers and their loved ones all the very, very best at this time of year.

But I’m sure I’m not the only one with an eye on the Boxing Day fixture card as I load up on mulled wine and poultry.

There is of course the small matter of United’s game at SJP at 7:45pm, see Alex’s preview below but there are other fixtures tomorrow that the dedicated football fan may be interested in.

Early doors there is the mouth-watering fixture in the Northern League – a local derby between Newcastle Benfield who play hosts to North Shields. The Robins will take a big following to the East End and there will be a laugh or two to be had in the crowd and that should be enough to get people along to take that in.

KO off is 11am at Sam Smith’s Park.

Over the Tyne high flying South Shields play host to Penrith with KO at 2pm.

If you were a bit mental you could do both games and still have loads of pre-match drinking time for the big game at St James’ Park.

All the best to all of our Non-League teams. The full fixture card is here.
