true faith brings you a brand new  podcast series looking back at old seasons at Newcastle United from a fan perspective.

The Superb Norman Riley & Marc Corby talk through the season 1988-1989 which ultimately saw Newcastle United relegated from the First Division after finishing eight the previous season.

In a season of many lows and just a few spectacular highs, Marc and Norman take us down memory lane looking at all things Newcastle United from this season, and a few other clubs besides.

After a triumphant 8th place finish the previous season (the highest finish in over a decade) United started the season with several new faces and the opening of the new West Stand.  After a disastrous opening day defeat at Everton things didn’t get much better as United collapsed.  A notable win at Liverpool still had the manager out of a job one game later as Jim Smith took the reigns.  He was unable to stop the slide into Division Two however as anger mounted at the board.

We’ll be looking to chronicle as many seasons as we can, if you’re at all interested in taking part, please let us know by emailing truefaithalex@outlook.com

Marc runs the superb Youtube, Facebook and Twitter accounts ‘Newcastle United, Very Rare Photographs & Videos 1980 -1994’ and Norman Riley is a regular true faith contributor across all platforms.

Both make for an engaging listen.  If you like what you hear, we’d be grateful if you could share on social media or even just tell a mate or two.
